Chiang Mai and The Golden Triangle

DAY (1): BANGKOK – CHIANG MAI

Evening departure from Bangkok for Chiang Mai by air-conditioned coach, train. (If by air, begin with Day 2).

DAY (2): CHIANG MAI – DOI SUTHEP (L)

• Morning arrival at Chiang Mai, transfer to the selected hotel.
• A visit to “Sankhampang” Thai Handicraft village to see silk and cotton hand-weaving, umbrellas, batik, sa paper making, teak-wood carving, silverware and lacquer-ware craftsman at work.
• Lunch followed by afternoon visit to historic Doi Suthep Temple (3,500 feet above sea level) with gardens and pagoda containing relics of the Lord Buddha.
• Overnight at the selected hotel.

DAY (3): CHIANG MAI – CHIANG DAO – MAEKOK – CHIANG RAI (B-L-D)

• Breakfast.
• Early morning departure from Chiang Mai to Thaton by minibus, with stop at Chiang Dao to see “Elephants at Work” show.
• Lunch at Thaton.
• Travel on Mae Kok River from Thaton to Chiang Rai by boat.
• Evening arrival at Chiang Rai Transfer to hotel by Samlor, Dinner.
• Overnight at the selected hotel.

DAY (4): CHIANG RAI – CHIANGSAEN GOLDEN TRIANGLE – MAE SAI – AKHA TRIBE – CHIANG MAI (B-L)

• Breakfast.
• Depart by minitruck to Doi Mae Salong Mountain to visit the Akha & White Karen Hilltribes Villages.
• Visit Chiangsaen (the ancient capital of Lanna Kingdom).
• Visit “The Golden Triangle”, where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet, lunch, continue to the northernmost town of Mae Sai.
• Depart Chiang Rai for Chiang Mai by bus or minibus, enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way.
• Short visit at Hot spring en-route.
• Overnight at the selected hotel.

DAY (5): CHIANG MAI – BANGKOK (B)

• Breakfast.
• Free-day to enjoy relaxing or shopping.
• Return to Bangkok.
